KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – City leaders tell owners of some independent used car lots to clean up their property.
The city council approved a plan during a Sept. 11 meeting that established standards for any new used car lots that open in the future.
The requirements include:
- Having a permanent building of at least 200 square feet on the property
- Cars must be parked at least 10 feet away from nearby streets and homes
- Any car repairs must be done inside a building
- Landscaping is required to block the lot from view
- Marked parking spaces are required
- Only one car per 200 square feet
- Property required to have security lighting
