McConnell Honor Guard supports return of fallen Kansas airman

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Airmen from McConnell Air Force Base helped honor a fallen Kansas airman as his remains were returned home more than five decades after he was killed in the Vietnam War.

The McConnell Honor Guard supported the dignified arrival of Tech. Sgt. Willis Rozelle Hall’s remains on Thursday at Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport. Hall, originally from Rose, Kansas, was killed in 1968 during the Vietnam War and was officially accounted for earlier this summer.

Airmen provided ceremonial support as Hall’s family received his remains and stood in salute as the procession departed the airport. The Honor Guard will also travel to Altoona, Kansas, on Saturday to take part in Hall’s visitation, memorial service, and burial.

Hall was among 19 airmen stationed at Lima Site 85, a mountaintop radar site in Laos that was attacked on March 11, 1968. Eight men were rescued, but Hall and 10 others were killed in action and were unable to be recovered at the time.
