Boise mayor appoints Maureen Brewer to lead planning department

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2)— Mayor Lauren McLean has appointed Maureen Brewer to head the city’s Department of Planning and Development Services (PDS). Brewer, who has spent nearly a decade addressing affordable housing and homelessness, is well-regarded within the department and community.

“For the last five years, I’ve trusted Maureen to lead my efforts to address affordability in Boise – my highest priority,” said Mayor McLean. “She’s built relationships with the private sector, pioneered public-private partnerships, innovated with her team, and helped make possible the thousands of homes – including over 200 for families exiting homelessness – that have opened in Boise. She’s the right person for the job, and I look forward to her leadership.”

During her tenure, Brewer has managed the Our Path Home initiative, collaborating with over 40 partner agencies to combat homelessness and leading the city’s response during the COVID-19 pandemic.
