Nighttime Lane Closures on I-80 Near Sparks Announced by NDOT Ahead of Road Improvements

Commuters on Interstate 80 east of Sparks can expect overnight disruptions. The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has announced lane reductions starting on Sunday through December as part of preliminary work for future road improvements and environmental upkeep.

Lane closures will occur between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. on westbound I-80 and 7:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. on eastbound I-80. As motorists plan their nighttime commutes, they should expect single lane closures up to two miles long. Additionally, although the lane reductions will alternate to reduce inconvenience, delays are anticipated, and extra travel time is advised by NDOT.

During these hours, the agency will conduct geotechnical soil surveys necessary for the widening project and remove litter from the roadside. Lane closures will occur on sections of I-80 between Vista Boulevard and USA Parkway, areas that serve traffic to and from industrial zones…
