ICE Agent Shoots Driver, Dragged During Arrest

Franklin Park, IL – A federal immigration officer was seriously injured Friday morning during an attempted arrest that ended with the suspect shot dead. According to the Department of Homeland Security, the incident unfolded when agents attempted to apprehend a suspect in Franklin Park.

The suspect resisted arrest and tried to flee in a vehicle, striking and dragging an ICE officer in the process. Fearing for his life, the officer discharged his weapon, fatally wounding the suspect.

Both the officer and the suspect were transported to a local hospital. The suspect was pronounced dead, while the officer, who suffered severe injuries, is in stable condition.

ICE released a statement connecting the incident to online rhetoric: “Viral social media videos and activists encouraging illegal aliens to resist law enforcement not only spread misinformation, but also undermine public safety, the safety of our officers and those being apprehended.”

The FBI confirmed its involvement in the ongoing investigation, stating that there is no further threat to public safety at this time. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the confrontation remains active.
