Forsyth County educators wear black in solidarity as the Reduction in Force plan takes effect

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Forsyth County educators, staff and students arrived at school Friday morning wearing black, a visual sign of solidarity marking the final day for more than 240 staff members impacted by the district’s reduction in force (RIF) plan.

The Forsyth County Association of Educators (FCAE) organized the action, encouraging participants to wear black and red. According to the organization, black symbolizes mourning and red represents unity.
