State grant cut forces Cenikor to end inpatient services in Amarillo

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Cenikor Foundation is facing a significant financial setback after the state cut a grant that previously allowed the organization to assist individuals unable to pay for services.

Julie McCarty, regional director of the Cenikor Center, expressed surprise at the funding reduction.

“Whenever they sent our contracts to us, they had decreased the amount of funds that we were supposed to receive. And it’s a decrease of $1.4 million every year for the next five years. I don’t know why the funding has been cut. It has nothing to do with our performance here or the company as a whole,” McCarty said…
