WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. It’s a topic that many Kansas families know all too well. The CDC says every year, about 15,000 children under the age of 20 are diagnosed with cancer.
Jessic Kilpatric received her first cancer diagnosis at nine months old. She had neuroblastoma, a rare nerve cancer found mostly in children.
“I had no idea what neuroblastoma even was,” said Debra Koscenski, Jessica’s mom. “I didn’t know what the stages of the cancer meant. You just hear the word cancer, and you have no idea what’s going to happen.”…
