Under dark skies that matched their frustrated moods, Arvada West High School students walked out during six period to protest gun violence and support their fellow Evergreen High School students.
The walkout was organized by the school’s Arvada West Student Council and Team Enough Awest, a student-led group that lobbies at the Denver capitol for gun control and against gun violence.
“We’re trying to advocate and use our young voices that are usually not heard,” said 11th grader Michelle Davila. “(The shooting) was so close to us.
“School used to be a safe place and it should be for everyone; it’s not a safe place anymore.”…
