Canton mother pleads not guilty to July stabbing death of daughter

CANTON, Ohio — Terri Niner, the Canton woman accused of involuntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of her daughter, Ayla Mangan, appeared in Stark County Common Pleas Court on Friday.

According to court records, the 49-year-old Niner pleaded not guilty to one count of felony involuntary manslaughter and a count of negligent assault, a misdemeanor charge. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 16.

Niner was indicted by a Stark County grand jury last week. However, the grand jury returned a no bill on the charge of obstructing justice against Francis Niner, the 52-year-old stepfather of the victim. He was ordered to be released.
