City of Roanoke commits $250,000 to aid local businesses in equipment purchases

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The City of Roanoke Economic Development Authority is providing $250,000 to local businesses to assist in essential equipment purchases as part of the city’s Business Equipment Incentive Program (BEIP).

“We meet with businesses all the time, and we hear from a lot of them that their greatest need is to purchase equipment,” said Roanoke City economic development specialist Brady Lawrence. “Oftentimes that’s their biggest capital expense.”

The program offers a 50-50 match on qualifying equipment purchases of up to $20,000 for businesses in the manufacturing and industrial sector, and up to $5,000 for commercial retail companies…
