TOLEDO, Ohio — The Historic Church of St. Patrick in downtown Toledo will hold its annual Firefighters Mass to honor the local firefighters who responded to a September 9, 1980 fire.
The mass will be held at the church on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. The church is located at 130 Avondale Ave. The church welcomes all firefighters, both active and retired to be honored for their courage, quick response and work in the community. Families and friends of all faiths are also welcome to join.
The Firefighters Mass was created by the parish to show their appreciation to the Toledo firefighters that responded after the church steeple struck by lightning caught fire back on Sept. 9, 1980.
