Family seeks justice after special needs man killed in north Toledo shooting

TOLEDO, Ohio — The family of a 38-year-old special needs man who died from a gunshot wound at his north Toledo home over the summer is demanding justice and pushing for new protections in his name.

Police say Hassan Cummings was shot in the stomach on July 30. The suspect, 19-year-old Darious Horton, fled the scene, and a warrant is out for his arrest on an aggravated assault charge.
