Man found unconscious behind wheel leads officers on chase

MONONA, Wis. — Monona police arrested a 36-year-old Madison man Thursday night who they said was found unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle then led officers on a chase.

A Monona police officer and Dane County deputy responded to Highway 51 at East Broadway at around 11:40 p.m. after a passerby reported the man. A vehicle was stopped in traffic while facing a green light when the officer and deputy arrived.

As the officer and deputy approached the vehicle, the man — who had regained consciousness — reportedly acknowledged them and drove away. Law enforcement chased the driver, with the Wisconsin State Patrol and Maple Bluff police joining in the effort…
