‘We trusted this person’ | Splendora ISD teacher accused of inappropriately touching first grader

SPLENDORA, Texas — A Splendora ISD elementary school teacher was arrested on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Rene Jesus Tavera-Arango, 70, was taken into custody following an investigation by the sheriff’s Special Victims Unit.

Tavera-Arango has been a first grade teacher at Splendora ISD’s Peach Creek Elementary for the past two years. Authorities said multiple students came forward with allegations of sexual abuse that they said happened at the school…
