EUGENE, Ore. — With a successful Rescue Effect adoption event last month in which 41 animals were matched with loving families, Greenhill Humane Society hopes to repeat the success this weekend by offering all adoptable animals in its shelter at no cost.
Thanks to a grant from the ASPCA, the Rescue Effect campaign brings together shelters and rescues nationwide to place more animals into loving homes and reduce the length of time animals are spending in shelters.
Most shelters across the country are full with nearly six million dogs and cats entering shelters and rescues in 2024, and animals, especially dogs, are often staying longer in care before being adopted…
