PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Six current University of Oregon Track and Field athletes have officially qualified for the 2025 World Athletics Championships taking place from Sept. 13-21 at the Japan National Stadium, the program released Thursday.
The nine-day global championship is one of the biggest international track meets with roughly 2000 athletes from 200 teams competing in 49 events. UO runners who competed for Oregon during the 2024-25 season that qualified are Silan Ayyildiz (XC), Mia Barnett (XC), Matthew Erickson (800), Klaudia Kazimierska (mile), Wilma Nielsen (mile) and Jaida Ross (throws).
Oregon also released a list of all the alumni and incoming athletes who are competing:
- Matthew Erickson (CAN) – 800
- Cole Hocker (USA) – 1500/5,000
- Mykolas Alekna (LTU) – discus
- Silan Ayyildiz (TUR) – 1500
- Mia Barnett (SWE) – 1500
- Susan Lokayo Ejore (KEN) – 1500
- Jessica Hull (AUS) – 800/1500
- Alaysha Johnson (USA) – 100H
- Klaudia Kazimierska (POL) – 1500
- Wilma Nielsen (SWE) – 1500
- Jenna Prandini (USA) – 4×100 relay pool
- Jaida Ross (USA) – shot put
- Jorinde van Klinken (NED) – shot put/discus
- Jillian Weir (CAN) – hammer
- *Bahiya El Arfaoui (MAR) – 1500
- Nikki Hiltz (USA) – 1500 (transferred to Arkansas)
