Happy Contestant Loses Big on ‘Price is Right’

Additional Coverage:

Talk about a good sport! A recent “Price is Right” contestant proved that sometimes, it really is just about being there.

Contestant Annie, radiating excitement, stepped onto the stage with her eyes on the prize: a brand-new car. To get there, she had to navigate the precarious “Pass the Buck” game.

The game presented Annie with six numbered cards. One hid the coveted car, three concealed cash prizes ($1,000, $3,000, and $5,000), and two dreaded “lose everything” cards loomed. After a pricing challenge involving toothpaste, corn dogs, cookies, and a smoothie, Annie earned a couple of picks.

Her first choice, card number three, revealed the dreaded “lose everything” message. While the audience groaned, host Drew Carey offered an optimistic, “Better chance of the next one being a winner!”

Undeterred, and still beaming, Annie selected card number five. Alas, it was the second “lose everything” card.

Carey reacted with a sympathetic, “Oh, what? So unlucky.”

But Annie? She just laughed.

Clearly, for her, the thrill of being on stage with Drew Carey outweighed the sting of going home empty-handed. Fans online commiserated, calling it a “complete wipeout” and “horrible luck.”

But Annie’s infectious joy proved that sometimes, the experience is the real prize.
