South Nashville Man Charged with Felony Assault on Officer and DUI After Series of Hit-and-Runs

In a series of incidents that disturbed the peace of South Nashville, Tafari McIntosh, 35, is now facing a litany of charges, including felony assault on a police officer, fleeing the scenes of multiple crashes, and driving under the influence, as reported by Nashville.gov. These charges come after a chaotic morning that saw several hit-and-run accidents and a physical confrontation with an MNPD officer.

According to witness accounts, the string of collisions began shortly before 8 a.m., with the first occurring at 1400 Eagle View Boulevard and subsequent crashes near 2615 Murfreesboro Pike and then at the corner of Murfreesboro Pike and Ransom Place. In an attempt to flee, McIntosh made his exit through the sunroof of his Nissan Altima and proceeded to walk away from the final crash site. Officer Bailee Mathers, a three-year MNPD veteran, working extra-duty nearby, attempted to intervene after being notified by parents in the area. A struggle ensued; McIntosh resisted and struck Mathers several times. Despite her using a Taser to try to subdue him, McIntosh managed to tear away the Taser probes and assaulted Officer Mathers once again…
