Nashville community center set to be demolished with no replacement plans approved

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Metro Parks community center is scheduled to be torn down on Monday, but leaders said they don’t have the money to build a new center right now.

The gym at the West Park Community Center has already been removed after the roof collapsed in May, and now crews are preparing to demolish the rest of the building.

Metro Parks is still waiting for funding to be approved in the Capital Spending Plan. Even if it’s granted in the current budget cycle, there is a long process that must be followed before the building will open…
