Inmate allegedly tried to choke, bite officer at Syracuse jail

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — An inmate tried to choke and bite a jail officer at the Onondaga County Justice Center after an altercation, according to Syracuse police.

Two supervising sergeants told 29-year-old inmate Zhamir Wright to remove things in his cell that were blocking officers from looking inside, on Sept. 11, according to a news release from the Syracuse Police Department.. Wright then allegedly turned aggressive and tried to choke and bite one of the officers. Other jail staff were able to apprehend Wright, who Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested for assault.

The injured sergeant was sent to Upstate University Hospital, where he recovered…
