Mass. AG talks investigation 1 year after state police recruit died from training injuries

One year after Trooper Enrique Delgado-Garcia died while training to become a member of the Massachusetts State Police, the state attorney general is assuring the public that her office remains steadfast in their commitment to supporting the ongoing investigation.

“Every day since the passing of Trooper Delgado-Garcia, we have remembered and honored his courage and dedication to public service, not just as a respected member of the law enforcement community but as a beloved friend, family member, and colleague,” Andrea Joy Campbell said in a statement released Saturday. “We also recognize that this past year has brought many questions, and with them, the frustration and pain that can accompany a thorough and lengthy investigation.”

Delgado-Garcia was hospitalized Sept. 12, 2024, and died at the hospital the next day after participating in a boxing training exercise at the academy in New Braintree.
