ST. LANDRY PARISH, la. (KLFY) — The St. Landry Parish Jail is facing overcrowding issues due to a dispute over inmate costs between the sheriff’s office and parish government.
Sheriff Bobby Guidroz has pointed to the lack of payment for inmates sent out of the parish as a contributing factor to the overcrowding and potential legal action.
“Parish government quit paying outside sheriffs to hold our inmates,” Guidroz said. “So, they’re in the process of negotiating a payment schedule, which is probably impossible at this point, or suing parish government.”…
