East Montgomery County’s $130 million convention center takes shape in New Caney

HOUSTON — Construction of a 210,000-square-foot convention center in Valley Ranch’s entertainment district has entered its vertical phase.

The East Montgomery County Improvement District began construction on the $130 million project in late January, nearly three years after the project was first announced. The convention center is part of the next phase of The Signorelli Co.’s Valley Ranch, which focuses on bringing new retail, commerce and entertainment into the 1,400-acre master-planned community.

The project is starting to take shape with walls erected and is still on track for a fall 2026 opening. Construction went vertical in August with the installation of the first tilt-wall panels for the administrative offices, kitchen and maintenance and storage areas north of the facility, according to a news release.
