In a stunning court decision, Melissa Towne, the Houston-area mother who confessed to fatally stabbing and suffocating her 5-year-old daughter in October 2022, has been found not guilty by reason of insanity. The grave incident took place at Spring Creek Park near Tomball where Towne attacked her daughter, Nichole Bradshaw-Towne. Following the attack, she drove the child to an emergency room where she was pronounced dead. Towne’s heinous actions were driven by her delusional belief that her daughter was “evil” and comparable to “Chuckie” from horror movies, this, according to court records. CPS records indicated that Nichole, at various times, showed signs of neglect and possible abuse, including being “covered in scars and insect bites and smelled of urine,” as reported by KHOU 11.
During the tragic sequence of events at the park, court documents revealed that Nichole pleaded with her mother, saying, “I’ve been good,” as Towne instructed her daughter to get on her knees before she commenced the attack.
