Beloved actress Marilu Henner recently reflected on her enduring friendship with the late Burt Reynolds, sharing heartfelt memories of their time together. “Burt Reynolds is one of my favorite people I’ve ever known,” Henner, 73, stated, expressing her devastation at his passing in 2018. She cherishes every photo of them together, each one a reminder of their deep bond.
Henner’s connection with Reynolds, both professional and personal, spanned decades. Their first meeting led to several collaborations, including an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents directed by Reynolds.
Years later, he invited her to play his wife on the sitcom Evening Shade, an offer she eagerly accepted. “Of course I wanted to work with him again,” she explained, praising the show’s incredible cast and Reynolds’ generosity in teaching them photography.
A particularly poignant memory for Henner was presenting Reynolds with the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 1991 for his role on Evening Shade. Overwhelmed with joy and surprise at his win, her spontaneous reaction captured the depth of her affection and respect for him as both an actor and a person.
