Man charged with hitting S.C. state trooper in Lexington County

LEXINGTON, S.C. – A man is now facing charges after he allegedly hit a South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper during a crash on Tuesday.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said Jerrod Ricks, 23, was charged with reckless driving Thursday afternoon and was also issued a citation for endangering emergency service personnel.

Ricks is accused of hitting SCHP Master Trooper Wayne H. LaBounty during a traffic stop Tuesday morning on Augusta Highway in Lexington County.

Ricks was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center but was released on a $440 bond. He is not allowed to have any contact with the victim and is not allowed to drive in South Carolina…
