Reidsville, NC – A 25-year-old fugitive wanted in Virginia and North Carolina was arrested Thursday in Rockingham County following a vehicle chase and wooded manhunt, authorities said.
According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began in Danville, VA, when an elderly woman was allegedly pepper-sprayed, robbed, and had her vehicle stolen. A description of the stolen vehicle was distributed, and Deputy J. Dickerson spotted a matching car traveling southbound on NC Highway 14 near Reidsville.
Officials said the driver fled when the deputy attempted a stop, abandoning the vehicle at a gas station near Walmart on NC Highway 14. The suspect reportedly ran into nearby woods.
