Youth empowerment summits in Newport News, Hampton focus on student wellness, resilience and prevention

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Learning, connection, and community brought students, parents, and educators together Saturday for the “Empowered to Rise” summits in Newport News and Hampton.

Middle and high school students took part in the Prevention Youth Summit, where workshops focused on leadership, stress management, and making healthy choices. Organizers say the goal is to build resilience and prevent substance misuse.
