Hunting trolls in Rhode Island

Trolls have invaded Rhode Island. Real, giant and charming, the Thomas Dambo trolls have taken over the woodlands and wet­lands of the Ocean State and you simply must make plans to visit all of them.

Dambo, a world-renown­ed installation artist, uses recycled materials to create fanciful creatures in natural settings as a way to educate and inspire peo­ple to care for the earth. The trolls, scatter­ed all over the world, are not readily visible, with most requiring a walk of some sort to ac­cess them.

Rhode Island has five trolls to date with two more on the way in 2026. Started in 2024 as a way to boost tourism with an eco-friendly bent, the first gentle giants appeared in Charlestown’s Ninigret Park…
