SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Mission 23 of Honor Flight Syracuse returned home safely this evening after taking local veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit national memorials dedicated to their service. Veterans from Central New York traveled to the nation’s capital to see the Korean and Vietnam Memorials, the World War II Memorial, and the Air Force and Marine Corps Memorials, receiving the recognition they deserve.
The event left many spectators emotional. Sarah Bohnstadt said,
“It’s pretty overwhelming, it’s pretty huge. I am just very emotional,” adding, “just to welcome back some veterans that were not welcome back when Vietnam was here.”…
