Amid regional expansion, Sentara Health hosts first Behavioral Health Conference

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — In a move to strengthen mental health care across Hampton Roads, Sentara Health hosted its first-ever Behavioral Health Conference on Friday at its Sentara Park campus in Virginia Beach.

The event brought together clinicians, administrators and behavioral health providers from across Sentara’s footprint, both in person and virtually, for a day focused on learning, collaboration and expanding access to care.

“We needed a whole continuing education and training program that was geared toward behavioral health providers in our system,” said Tracey Izzard-Everett, Sentara’s Vice President of Behavioral Health. “Before, our staff would attend trainings that were geared more toward physical health. We wanted to bring behavioral health-specific education here to elevate their engagement and give them tools they can use in real time.”…
