Injured snowboarder rescued after falling 100 feet from glacier in Colorado

(WJW) – Rescue crews saved a snowboarder who officials said fell about 100 feet from a glacier in Colorado on Monday.

According to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a call about someone seriously hurt near the Skyscraper Glacier in Boulder County.

Investigators learned that the snowboarder, a 27-year-old man, was getting ready to descend the glacier when he fell, “sliding and tumbling approximately 100 feet down the snowfield before coming to rest in a bergschrund,” the sheriff’s office said.

Volunteers with the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group were flown to a mountain ridge above the snowfield, while search and rescue teams, sheriff’s deputies and EMS crews also responded to the area…
