Cincinnati man sentenced 6 years after stealing $7.4 million in fraudulent checks

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A Cincinnati man that stole roughly $7.4 million in the form of 1,480 fraudulent checks was sentenced to six years in prison.

Lonnel Lucas, 23, allegedly worked with Destiny Neblett, 23 – his girlfriend and a former postal worker – to steal checks from mail at a processing facility where Neblett worked. Lucas allegedly sold the checks to Treyvon Alexander, 21, who “processed them and converted them to stolen funds,” according to United States Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II.

Authorities said they identified 1,480 stolen checks worth a combined $7.4 million, many of which were recovered before they were processed and were correctly delivered without issue…
