Lakeland, Fla. – The Columbus State University women’s soccer team battled to the final whistle but came up short in a 1–0 loss to Florida Southern on Saturday night at Moccasin Field.
The Moccasins (2-0-1) capitalized on their best first-half chance to take the lead in the 24th minute. Off a free kick from defender Aliya Roberts, that fell to FSC’s Breena Harrigan, who finished cleanly for what proved to be the decisive goal.
Despite the setback, the Lady Cougars (1-2-0) controlled much of the match offensively, outshooting the Moccasins 20–6 and holding a 9–4 advantage in shots on goal.
