Staying Dry & Warm For Awhile, But Ridge Weakens Late Week!

TODAY:This morning we started out in the mid 50s to mid 60s across the region under clear skies. Expect lots of sunshine once again as things remain dry with highs near 90°.

THIS WEEK:We won’t see much change in the week ahead other our afternoon highs will creep up into the low 90s. We still see lots of sunshine with a few clouds each afternoon. A disturbance to our north tries to bring in a few showers late Tuesday, but with the air so dry, we should stay dry. The ridge that is keeping us dry will weaken toward the end of the week as a trough digs in. As of now, any frontal systems look to stay north of us, but a late week system could sag far enough south to bring us a stray shower. However, we don’t see any big rainmakers on the horizon, so expect to stay mainly dry for awhile. One thing to note, September and October are the driest months of the year for the state, so this isn’t completely out of the ordinary.

TROPICS:Look like we won’t be getting any help from the tropics either, as things remain relatively quiet for this time of the year. On average, this is the peak of the hurricane season, but right now, the only thing in the Atlantic is tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic that has a 60% chance of development over the next 7 days. The next few days it will be limited by dry air, and if it can survive that, there could be some development late week…
