Storm Track 3 Forecast: Scattered showers and storms Sunday, some severe

A few showers bubbling across the area this morning will continue to drift to the north and east with time this morning.

Temperatures will start mild, in the 60s and 70s for central Kansas while western Kansas sees a few places in the 50s.

A second round of storms is likely to develop in west-central Kansas through the afternoon and evening. These will be more vigorous, boosted by a passing upper level storm system.

Several storms may become severe, posing a threat of large hail, damaging winds, and there will be enough spin in the atmosphere to keep the outside chance of a tornado occurring somewhere. A Slight Risk is circled for areas north of I-70 into Nebraska.

Highs today will be warm, ranging from the upper 70s to the middle 80s.

Scattered showers and storms taper off into the night, with most lingering activity gone by sunrise Monday.

Temperatures stay mild overnight, with lows in the 50s and 60s.

Monday strikes a quieter note across the area. Most will remain dry with plenty of sunshine and highs in the 80s.

The unsettled pattern resumes on Tuesday as another disturbance approaches in the upper atmosphere, and this will bring more rounds of showers and storms from Tuesday through Thursday.

A few storms may become severe on Tuesday in northwest Kansas.

Temperatures will be on a gradual cooling trend, expected to fall back to near or below average by midweek.

Wednesday may bring a more widespread chance of rain.
