Travelers and daily commuters in Colorado are in for a significant reroute as the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced the temporary closure of Weld County Road 38 at the I-25 East Frontage Road intersection due to construction work. Starting on Sept. 16 at 5 a.m., the intersection will be inaccessible to traffic through mid-October, as crews work on rebuilding and improving the infrastructure as part of the expansive I-25 North Express Lanes Project.
The necessity of this closure stems from the demolition and reconstruction of the WCR 38 bridge, an endeavor essential to accommodate the widening of I-25 and to facilitate improved multimodal connections. Motorists can expect to have their usual routes disrupted, as westbound WCR 38 traffic will be rerouted to Colorado Boulevard, with options to join Weld County Road 34 or Colorado Highway 66 to access I-25. Similarly, northbound traffic on the I-25 East Frontage Road will be redirected to facilitate east/west movement.
