Duncannon approves emergency water valve repair amid drought concerns

After a month of high water loss and ongoing drought concerns, Duncannon Borough Council voted Aug. 19 to approve emergency work on a deteriorating water main valve on North Lincoln Street.

The $19,950 repair by Central Penn Services will install a new 6×16 valve cluster that enables future line replacements without requiring another full shutdown of the system. Borough engineer Greg Rogalski said the valve is in an aging section of pipe off Cherry Street and needs immediate attention to maintain pressure stability.

It was also reported the borough recently submitted two grant applications totaling roughly $677,000 for upgrades to the electric grid, including a potential secondary power feed from PPL across Route 11/15.
