Metro Council urges expedited reopening of juvenile detention center, receives nonprofit support

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Metro councilmember Kevin Bratcher, D-22, is the primary sponsor of a resolution urging Governor Andy Beshear and the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice to expedite the re-opening of the Juvenile Detention Center.

Bratcher sees this as a solution to a teen violence issue.

“Louisville has a problem and nobody seems to be wanting to take is serious and that is juvenile crime,” Bratcher said. “We need a detention center here in Louisville and we need it yesterday.”…
