Violent attack at DuPage County Courthouse results in arrest, 3 deputies hospitalized

WHEATON, Ill. (WGN) — A man accused of injuring several DuPage County deputies inside an area courthouse on Friday will remain behind bars.

Avinash Panjwani, 27, of Lombard, faces five felony counts of aggravated battery to a police officer, one felony count of aggravated battery causing bodily harm, and two felony counts of resisting a police officer, causing injury.

Charges stem from a Friday, Sept. 12 incident at the DuPage County courthouse.

When the court ordered Panjwani to report to probation to complete drug testing and then return, Panjwani looked at the courtroom deputy and made shadow boxing movements at her, DuPage County prosecutors allege.
