Human Remains Discovered by City Workers in St. Louis Lot, Homicide Detectives Launch Investigation

St. Louis city workers stumbled upon human remains while tending to a vacant lot in the 5600 block of Labadie Avenue, leading to an investigation by homicide detectives. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s release, the call that city crews found what could be human remains came in around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Upon arriving at the scene, District 5 officers contacted the Medical Examiner’s Office, which confirmed the remains were human. The St. Louis Fire Department’s cadaver dog was brought in to assist with the search around the vacant lot, now the focus of a broader investigation led by the Homicide Division. The Medical Examiner’s Office will continue to play a key role in identifying the remains and determining the cause of death as the investigation progresses…
