Cyclist critically injured in Roanoke crash, driver cited

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)- Authorities in Roanoke are investigating a weekend collision that left a cyclist hospitalized in critical condition.

According to the Roanoke Police Department, the collision happened Saturday, September 13, around 1:30 p.m., in the 1300 block of Jamison Avenue SE, when the driver of a 1995 Honda Del Sol struck the cyclist, a 39-year-old man.

The initial investigation determined the the cyclist was traveling north on 14th Street and apparently crossed the intersection without “stopping for oncoming traffic,” according to the press release.
