An Illinois man is facing charges in Florida for allegedly robbing a bank in Tallahassee on Wednesday, causing a local school to temporarily close, before fleeing west across the Panhandle.
The Leon County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to an alarm at Centennial Bank on the 6500 block of Thomasville Road at around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. They arrived and confirmed a man had claimed to have a gun and demanded cash, but did not receive any before he fled.
No one was hurt in the incident. Nearby Chiles High School was briefly placed under a closed campus protocol during the robbery call, until authorities confirmed it was safe to open…
