WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Sedgwick County Zoo announced the birth of an American bison calf, Rubilee (pronounced Ruby Lee), born during the zoo’s Zoobilee celebration.
The zoo said that at just a few days old, Rubilee underwent her essential health checkup with veterinary and animal care teams. She received her first vaccinations, was microchipped for identification, and had her weight recorded.
Following family tradition, the zoo’s North American Prairie team named her after a precious gem. Her mother Pearl and aunt Jade established this naming pattern, and with her arrival coinciding with Zoobilee, “Rubilee” matched the theme…
