LANE COUNTY, Ore. — Recent rain has moderated fire behavior, giving crews battling the Emigrant Fire the opportunity to go directly closer to the fire’s edge, officials said Monday morning.
The fire has burned 32,347 acres and stands at 34% containment. There are 910 people working the fire, including 24 crews, 30 engines, 25 water tenders, three helicopters, one dozer, and 44 types of other heavy equipment (skidder, masticator, feller-buncher).
While finer fuels have absorbed moisture, heavy fuels are less receptive, and firefighters are monitoring conditions closely as warmer, drier weather returns Monday, officials said…
