- Nick Cannon makes candid admission about being ‘careless and frivolous’ in becoming father to 12 children (the-independent.com)
Nick Cannon, father of 12 children with six different women, recently admitted on The Breakfast Club morning radio show that he might have handled things differently regarding his growing family.
The 44-year-old, whose children range from his 12-year-old twins with ex-wife Mariah Carey to his youngest, Onyx Ice, with LaNisha Cole, reflected on his approach to fatherhood. He acknowledged a degree of carelessness, attributing it to his financial resources and access.
He stated that having 12 children wasn’t a planned outcome, but rather a consequence of his mindset at the time. Now, approaching 45, Cannon expressed he might have approached certain situations differently if he had prioritized self-reflection and personal growth.
When asked by host Charlemagne the God if “inner work” would have changed the number of children he had, Cannon expressed uncertainty, emphasizing that each child was conceived in love. He suggested that if he had addressed emotional issues stemming from his divorce, he might have approached subsequent relationships differently. He now recognizes a pattern of potentially creating unresolved emotional issues.
Cannon’s comments follow a March interview where he indicated he was pausing further additions to his family for financial reasons, but didn’t rule out the possibility of more children in the future.
