Local law enforcement preparing for legal open carry of firearms in Florida

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Local law enforcement agencies say they are studying a controversial Sept. 10 court decision that ruled Floridians will soon be able to carry firearms openly throughout the state.

The First District Court of Appeal handed down a decision Sept. 10 in the case of McDaniels v State of Florida, striking down Florida’s long-standing prohibition on the open carrying of firearms, saying it violates the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution.
