Community holds vigil for JWU student found dead

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A vigil is being held for a Johnson & Wales University student found dead on campus Monday, Sept. 15 at 6:00 p.m.

The family of Skye Morris is asking for answers involving her death. Morris, from Detroit, was found unresponsive in her dorm, according to The Village PCL, who is organizing the vigil.

“Skye was not depressed and not known for any substance use,” The Village PCL said. “Students say their requests for a wellness check were ignored by dorm staff who later found her unresponsive. Her family and community are want answers.”…
