Decatur passes new ordinance taxing vaping items

DECATUR, Ala. — Vaping in Decatur is about to get more expensive. The city council voted to approve a 10-cent tax per milliliter on vape products sold within city limits.

A tax of five cents ($0.05) per milliliter (mL) of consumable vapor products sold or delivered by them outside the corporate limits but within the City’s police jurisdiction.

The ordinance will take effect October 1st, 2025, but there may be a delay before collection. That will be addressed in another resolution in the next council meeting…
